Anyone from a small agency have any pointers or suggestions, on how to sell a liberal town counsel on purchasing TASERs for the dept? |

just a thought...try to make some drug interdictions and ask your solicitor about seizure protocols to seize money and vehicles and hope to sell to your department that you can use that money to buy things for your department.

Its not the point of $$. We have money in the drug account. Its just their attitude towards that piece of equipment. I am trying to pull incidents I have been in that a Taser might have made the situation a little easier to handle. |

unless you are on i85 then you can forget about any new interdiction team being started for funds. and unless you have a federal agency assist in any seizures locally (and i don't see why you would under normal circumstances) then all of your interdiction efforts can only fund drug enforcement, which tasers would not be included in.
my recommendation would be for you to find reports of incidents that would have resulted in deadly force if there was no taser there. then throw liability towards them.

I appreciate the input. All councilmen are old SKool, I guess I ought to be more concerned about them putting the town in to BANKRUPTCY than trying to get more equipment.

Also get stats to support that tasers would decrease the length of a bad encounter and be safer for officers and suspects alike. Liberals love safety - especially for the offenders !!!!
