The Lamar County Sheriff's Department has charged a man with fatally shooting a police dog.

Kevin Pippin, 37, was charged with aggravated cruelty to animals and tampering with evidence.

Officials say Geraldine Pippin, 66, of Culloden and Deborah Flynt, 40, of Atlanta will be charged with tampering with evidence.

A Sheriff's Department investigation found that Kevin Pippin shot the German Shepherd named Jimmy on his mother's property in Culloden in November 2009.

The dog had apparently strayed onto the Pippen property and was not taken from the K-9 handler's home as previously reported.
